Anonyupload set for launch
In the wake of the MegaUpload shutdown, hacktivist group Anonymous has created its own cyber-locker service.
Anonyupload is set for a 25th of January launch and is advertisement-free, relying on donations to stay running.
The infrastructure is based in Russia to avoid US jurisdiction, but the site has nonetheless advised users to back up their data on other similar websites.
Following MegaUpload's closure, Anonymous knocked a number of websites offline, including the US Department of Justice, the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America.
The group also completely wiped the website of CBS.com on Sunday, although it has since been restored.
MegaUpload wasn't the only file-hosting service to come under fire, with FileSonic also seemingly shut down this week.
