'She's a good guy'
Marion Cotillard has revealed her Dark Knight Rises character Miranda Tate is a "good guy", but goes through "difficulties".
The 36-year-old Inception actress has confirmed she will play ecologically-minded businesswoman Tate in Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman film, despite speculation that she was lined up to star as Talia, the daughter of Liam Neeson's alter-ego Ra's Al Ghul.
Cotillard told The Hollywood Reporter that: "[Tate] is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She's a good guy."
The actress also revealed that her commitment to The Dark Knight Rises meant that she was unable to spend as much time rehearsing Jacques Audiard's forthcoming drama Rust and Bone – in which she plays a paraplegic whale trainer - and she admitted the director was "sometimes not very happy".
She added: "It was frustrating."
However, Audiard revealed that he tried to make the best of it. He explained: "At one point, I was afraid. So I said to myself: 'We don't know each other; we don't know the character she plays except in bits and pieces. Let's make a virtue of this.' That's exactly what we did, and it worked."
