'Catching Fire' casting talk
Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer are reportedly battling it out for the role of Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.
Finnick – the victor of the 65th Hunger Games in Suzanne Collins' book trilogy – has a vital role in the second novel, and casting for the part has been a hot topic.
While Kitsch, Hedlund and Hammer are all reportedly in producers' sights, it has also been rumoured that a complete unknown could be cast in the role.
A decision is expected to be made this week, and Lionsgate refused to comment on the speculation.
A representative was quoted as saying: "As with the first film, we won't be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumours for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce."
Filming on Catching Fire is scheduled to begin later this year, with Francis Lawrence taking over the reins from director Gary Ross – who chose not to return to the franchise because of its schedule.
The Hunger Games starred Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. The second instalment is currently slated for release in November 2013.
