Exile: The Lyrical Genius
He is certainly one of the great musical forces to reckon with when it comes to Zambian music. He brings to the table music on a whole new level. His artistry is so diverse you would think he was more than one man. He can write, produce, sing and rap. Some people call him The ‘Lyrical Genius’ as he has such a powerful hand, a hand that can pen down seriously strong love songs.
His debut album, So Lucky was a great success with hits like the title-track itself and Kumvela Nimvela going on to win the Radio Phoenix song-of-the-year awards in 2003 and 2004. His follow-up Siku Ya Lelo, was also a success with the title-track becoming one of the sought-after songs at weddings.
Until recently,Exile didnt have a hit song since his Sikuyalelo album. Instead the singer has found success in collaborating with other artists such as Bryan,Runnel,Jonto,Cq and other upcoming artists. In most cases where Exile is featured, you can bet your last kwacha he wrote the song.
He is been off three studios so far, finally ending at Goemi Records where he recorded as Auwe, the mega hit that has become a national anthem. He recorded two albums (So Lucky and Siku Yalelo) at Romaside Studios with TK and moved to Runnel's Show Down Entertainment where he recorded another album, which didn't live up to its hype. Around 2011 he moved to Goemi Records where he is recording his latest album Out Of Exile.
