MMD presidential aspirant Moses Muteteka says the former ruling party is exhibiting desperation by holding provincial conventions instead of holding a national convention to elect its next leader.

He says the party should not look so desperate by holding provincial conferences.

Mr. Muteteka says party members are not sure of the outcome of the provincial conventions which they have been subjected to for the first time.

Speaking to QFM, Mr. Muteteka says it is too early for the MMD to start showing signs of desperation when party was in power barely seven months ago.

He says if the party's national executive committee (NEC) demands that all aspirants should contribute towards the holding of a national convention, he is willing to contribute.

Mr. Muteteka says he is ready to contribute to the party so that a national convention is convened to elect the new party president.

Mr Enoch Kavindele who is also vying for the MMD presidency is quoted challenging his opponents to contribute 100 million kwacha each towards the holding of a national convention.
