The opposition Movement for Multi party Democracy MMD has clarified that it is going to hold a national convention and not provincial conventions.

MMD chairman for elections Gabriel Namulambe says a lot of people have misunderstood the whole process of electing the party's next leader.

He says the former ruling party will hold a national convection, though elections will be conducted in segments.

He says the only difference this time around is that elections will be conducted in provinces instead of a central place.

Mr. Namulambe has also restated that the party will also work on amending the constitution on the particular day.

He was speaking to QFM news in an interview.
