Get Involved Zambia (GIZ) says the 50 plus clause in the draft constitution is a national issue which needs all Zambians to reach consensus on.

GIZ executive director Frank Bwalya says most people have realized that he 50-plus 1 clause does not have a provision for the vacancy that might arise in the event where a serving president is unable to continue being in office.

Fr. Bwalya notes that the 50plus 1 is a progressive clause that needs to be re-looked and see how best the office of the Vice-president can be catered for in an event the office of president became vacant.

He however, notes that his organization would sit down and try to see how best it can contribute through recommendations on the loopholes that have been identified on the running mate clause.
