Ministry of Health in K35 billion boost
The Swedish government has given the ministry of health K33.5 billion to be channeled to various health programmes in the country.
The disbursement of the funds follows the progress made by the ministry of health in the recent years in improving the accountability and transparency in the management of funds in accordance with the agreed Governance Action Plan established in 2009.
Swedish ambassador Lena Nordstrom said at the press briefing in Lusaka today that are government will continue to assist Zambia in improving health services in the country especially maternal services.
At the same occasion, minister of health Joseph Kasonde said the money would be channeled towards the procurement of essential drugs, improving of infrastructure and support health demographic surveys.
Dr. Kasonde thanked the Swedish government for the financial aid and gave assurance that the ministry of health would ensure the funds are used in a transparent manner.
