Bishop John Mambo has advised United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema to tone down.

Bishop Mambo has told QFM News that the UPND leader, as a respectable politician should tone down on his language.

He says Mr Hichilema's language if allowed to continue is likely to distort the peace the country is enjoying.

Mr Hichilema has been a strong critic of President Michael Sata and the PF government.

And Bishop Mambo has advised government officials to ensure that the country's democracy is protected.

He says attempts by the Chief Register of Societies to de-register the MMD has the potential to weaken the country's democratic standing.

He says the MMD has a significant presence in the many parts of the country as the main opposition party in the country.

Bishop Mambo says as the main opposition party in the country, the MMD helps provide checks and balances to the ruling PF Government.
